The Ministry of Education has announced how the Ksh4.2 billion will be spent on the national examinations set to begin later this month.
In the Allocation, Ksh2 billion is set to pay markers while KSh1 billion will cover field officers such as centre managers and security agents among others.
The rest will be used to take care of miscellaneous expenses such as fueling vehicles to be used in transportation, as well as allowances to government officials involved.
K.C.S.E (18 days, starting November 5)
Broken down further, 10,078 center managers will each receive Ksh 500 for the entire period while 10,460 supervisors will pocket a sum ranging Ksh630 to Ksh695 individually.
Elsewhere, the 37,978 invigilators will receive sums between KSh460 and Ksh580. Those in charge of security will earn Ksh420 per day.
Supervisors and invigilators will be paid as per their location with those in Nairobi and Mombasa earning the highest while others the lowest.
The ministry is set to spend Ksh90.7 million on center managers, Ksh118.6 million on supervisors and Ksh314.5 million on invigilators.
K.C.P.E (3 days starting October 29)
For K.C.P.E., the pay will be a flat rate with 27,354 supervisors set to pocket Ksh2,485 each, 65,107 invigilators to receive Sh1,615 while security persons earning Ksh1,050 for the entire period.
Drivers will each get Ksh1,040 bringing the total expenditure to Ksh237.2 million.
Five choppers are also on standby to airlift the papers in case of emergency while conflicted areas will have their exams distributed by armoured vehicles.
Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed stated that all the money will have been paid out by the end of the examination process.
