Ruto's Mashujaa Day Joke on Raila Sends Stadium Into Frenzy

Deputy President William Ruto made fun of Opposition Leader Raila Odinga’s biblical analogy during the 2018 Mashujaa Day celebrations at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Ruto joked that in his study of the Bible, he had not come across any information indicating that there were crocodiles in the river Jordan.

Ile tulifundshiwa huko kwa Sunday school kuhusu safari ya Canaan, hatukuambiwa kulikuwa na mamba lakini sasa tumejua.

(When we were taught about the journey to Canaan in Sunday school, we weren't told about any crocodiles but now we know)" he stated.

He jibed that the former Prime Minister would have made a great Sunday school teacher because he would have taught Ruto about the reptiles.

The crowd in attendance went wild with amusement, given the rocky relationship between the DP and Odinga, who did not seem delighted at all by Ruto's comments.

Raila who has likened his 2017 attempt to clinch the Presidency to the Israelites journey to Canaan stated that upon reaching river Jordan, he encountered crocodiles that made it difficult to cross over.

Tulikuwa tunapeleka watu Canaantukafika mto Jordan tukapata mamba, ndio tukaongea na wewe tukasema tujenge daraja na tunaingia wana-NASA na wana-Jubilee pamoja.

(We were taking our followers to Caanan but upon reaching River Jordan, we found crocodiles. That’s why we talked to the president and agreed to build a bridge for everyone to enter regardless of their political affiliation)" recounted Odinga.

Ruto also thanked Raila for agreeing to work with Uhuru to promote the well being of all citizens.
