Governor Wycliffe Oparanya's Communication Team Created Confusion on National Holiday

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya caused a stir on Sunday, after confusing Mashujaa Day celebrations with the Madaraka Day one.

The governor through his tweet, confused the two national holidays as he sought support to advance Kakamega County.

"I will do everything within my means to build Kakamega County and make it attractive to the outside World," stated Oparanya.

During the Saturday celebrations at the Bukhungu stadium, Oparanya together with Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri were directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta, to chair a task force that will recommend ways of transforming the sugar industry and have a report within a month.

"It is not acceptable that cane factories have been collecting cane from farmers and not paying for it while the demand for sugar has been on the rise" stated Uhuru.

Uhuru promised to aid the development of the Stadium as well as roads in the county.

Deputy President William Ruto echoed the President's comments when he assured the residents that the Kakamega – Webuye road was under construction while the Navakholo road was being repaired.

In September, the former Minister of Planning revealed that he intends to run for presidency in 2022.

The former MP for Butere also pointed out that he had made steps towards having Ruto on his side.

"Going by the current mood in the country after the handshake deal between Uhuru and Raila Odinga, the political landscape has changed drastically and DP Ruto has no chance of winning in the presidential polls," remarked Oparanya.
