Senator Sakaja Speaks on His Relationship With Jacque Maribe

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has spoken on his relationship with Citizen TV anchor Jacque Maribe.

A tweep by the name Crispin Okumu had raised concern why Sakaja had abandoned his legislative duties and instead headed to Milimani Law Courts to support Maribe.

"I wish Nairobi Senator Sakaja would show the same energy and passion supporting Jacque Maribe in her murder trial, in serving the electorate [Sic]," Okumu stated.

"Jacque Maribe has been my friend since high school. I have no apologies to make for standing with her," Sakaja responded.

"Before I’m a senator, I am a human being who has friends. If you are my friend, I will stand with you no matter which position you or I hold," he added.

Sakaja attended the Wednesday Senate proceedings in the evening despite making a court appearance in the morning.

Other netizens accused the Senator of PR stunts while other acknowledged that he is among the brilliant of the youthful leaders in the country.

Among the people who showed solidarity with Maribe is gospel singer Kambua, former PSCU director Dennis Itumbi and Citizen TV senior anchor Francis Gachuri.

Maribe's employer, Royal Media Services, on Thursday issued a statement supporting her bail application.

The media house noted that the journalist has been a diligent employee with no bad records hence is unlikely to jump the bail if so granted by the court.

Jackie Maribe has been my friend since high school. I have no apologies to make for standing with her. Before I’m a senator, I am a human being who has friends. If you are my friend, I will stand with you no matter which position you or I hold.
