Court Orders Arrest of Nakuru East MP's Wife, Violet Nzisa

The legal battle that is quickly eating up the repute of the wife of the Nakuru East MP has taken a new twist after a court ordered for her arrest on Monday.

MP David Gikaria’s wife Violet Nzisa risks going to jail over failure to comply with earlier court directives in the case involving a police officer whom she hit with a car two years ago.

Nzisa had been ordered by the court to pay the officer, Ms Martha Ongaga, Ksh738,721 as compensation for the damages caused in the accident.

Nakuru Senior Principal Magistrate, Liz Gicheha in her ruling, stated that Ms Nzisa had absconded court and disobeyed the orders it issued in an earlier session.

MP's wife had been allowed until Monday noon to pay Ms Ongaga Ksh80,000 as part of the required Ksh100,000 monthly payouts but she had only paid the complainant Ksh20,000.

The payouts to Ms Ongaga were meant to cover for the damages that included future medical expenses and any other costs that the court deemed suitable.

On the day of the accident, Ms Ongaga was on her way to Kaptembwo police station on a motorcycle when the car Nzisa was driving hit her.

“I sustained a spinal injury and was admitted to Kijabe Hospital for five months. I instituted the suit and the court ruled in my favour. I am yet to receive the money,” Onganga recounted to the court.

The MPs wife in September this year told the court that she did not have enough money to pay Ongaga Ksh100,000 on a monthly basis as she had pledged. She instead sought to be giving the officer at least Ksh20,000 every month.
