KCPE Candidate Arrested for Killing Father

A candidate in the recently concluded Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) from Kakamega County allegedly killed his father after an altercation.

The 18-year-old pupil was arrested by police in Kakamega county on Thursday.

Reports indicated that the two were fighting over a two-kilogram tin of maize.

During a tussle on Wednesday night, the pupil is believed to have hit his father on the head with a sharp object which killed him immediately.

According to a report by Daily Nation, the father had intended to sell the maize but the son was having none of that.

"The boy confronted his father and tried to stop him from taking the maize. In the commotion, he hit him with a sharp object, killing him on the spot," stated divisional Police Chief Peter Mwanzo.

The father was reportedly drunk at the time of the altercation.

The pupil is set to be charged with murder after the determination of his age which was carried out at the Webuye Sub-county hospital.

Elsewhere in the same county, a woman, 45, reportedly killed her drunk husband by hitting him on the head with a hoe.

It was claimed that the tragedy occurred after the husband beat her up.
