French Teacher Arrested Giving KCSE Paper Answers to Students

A French teacher was on Tuesday arrested for giving KCSE paper answer to students in Kakamega county.

According to reports, the teacher was allegedly assisting students to answer the French paper at Koyonzo Secondary School.

He was among five people caught and later detained at Mumias police station as investigations are being conducted.

In a separate incident, two teachers from Shikhokho Secondary School were on Monday charged with being in possession of exam materials.

Ibrahim Anguria and Kelvin Muchalwa were accused of being in possession of photocopies of Biology Practical examination on November 16 contrary to Section 27(1) Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Act 29/2012.

Similarly, earlier in November, two teachers were arrested in Nakuru for defying Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed’s directive against offering tuition to learners during holidays on grounds that it is abolished by the constitution.

The teachers were caught offering tuition to over 200 students at Pioneer School in Langa Langa, Nakuru County.

The area chief George Ng’ang’a revealed that the students had been picked out from various schools around the county.

He further divulged that the teachers were charging Kshs 1,200 per subject with a total of four subjects under tutorship at the centre.

The teachers were taken to Bondeni Police Station custody and are waiting to be arraigned in court.

This comes weeks after the CS made arrests of students, invigilators and supervisors involved in national exams cheating.
