KCSE Candidate Arrested Over Plot to Kill President Uhuru Kenyatta

The police have arrested a KCSE candidate over a message he wrote about killing President Uhuru Kenyatta and Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale.

It is alleged that the student sent a message to President Kenyatta and Duale in his English Paper One (Functional Skills) answer sheet threatening to kill them at an unknown date.

The student, who sat his examination at Elimu Bora Secondary School in Mandera town, will be presented to the court on Monday.

The police will be seeking orders to hold him for seven days in order to conclude investigations.

This incident comes barely a month after other candidates from Ambira High School were arrested after they recorded themselves admitting to cheating in the national exams.

They also hurled insulting words aimed at Education CS Amina Mohamed and Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.

Those juveniles as you have described them have become persons of interest not because of what they said insulting prominent persons but their suspected involvement in examination cheating,” Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet remarked.

Ukwala Resident Magistrate Gladys Adhiambo detained the eight suspects on the request of the prosecution and went ahead to give the team seven days to complete the investigations.

On the other hand, Siaya Senator James Orengo came out to defend the boys arguing that the incident was a bad example of young people copying Kenyan adults known to engage in extreme impunity and graft.

City lawyer Nelson Havi offered his services to represent the boys in court.
