West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo on Tuesday narrated how he lived in the bush for three days surviving only on blood and milk after his security was withdrawn by the state.
The Governor explained that he proceeded to a bush on the Kenya-Uganda border for fear of prosecution after his official security and that of his place of residence were withdrawn.
Speaking at a function in Makutano town, he further explained that he survived solely with his livestock until he learned that the court had barred EACC from arresting him.
“It’s been a long time since l grazed my animals. I was grazing them at Kanyerus, Morita and Losidok villages for the three days I’ve been away. I’ve been feeding on blood and milk. I’ve really missed ugali,” stated the embattled Governor.
This came after he disrupted business at a roadblock along Kitale-Lodwar highway where he freed a boda boda operator who had been arrested.
He was also seen on the video asking Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to retrain their officers.
The governor also demanded that the ministry in charge of deploying officers to strive to shuffle them accusing those who had served in his county for more than 15 years of oppressing citizens.
“The officers who have overstayed here are the ones oppressing Kenyans. They should be transferred and others who have served in other regions for a long time should come and work here,” he suggested.
He further accused those who withdrew his security of not properly following procedure and demanded that they be arrested as well.
He also noted that the county did not need the police officers on the roads but in unsafe zones of the county such as the Pokot-Marakwet border.
