Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura’s wife, Mukami Mwaura, has opened about a severe depression she suffered in 2017.
She revealed to the media that besides two of her triplets dying, her husband losing a parliamentary seat shortly after sent her into the extreme.
“I have been fighting depression since last year in April, immediately after I left the hospital.
“Depression went on for a while, and later came the loss of my husband’s political seat, which also drove me to depression again. I mean, most of April 2017 to December, I was in and out of depression,” stated Mukami.
She delivered triplets two years ago but unfortunately lost two of them after three months in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Mukami was, however, able to recover from the depression largely because of support from the people who were around her at the time.
She further divulged that she shifted her efforts into keeping her body fit and taking care of her child.
“After losing some weight, I started gaining my self-esteem, although it was not a big issue; it was just a way to make myself happy,” she explained.
She also described being trolled after she lost her children stating that people claimed that the fate was largely due to her husband’s political life.
Senator Mwaura, who was introduced into politics by a nomination from ODM party, has since decamped to Jubilee Party where he is a nominated senator.
