The wife of nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Isaac Mwaura has criticised renowned gospel singers Size 8 and Willy Paul over their new song 'Tiga Wana', which has elicited public outrage.
Through her Facebook post, Mukami Mwaura lashed out at the duo stating that some words in the song didn't even make sense questioning whether it qualified to be gospel music.
“Tiga wana… I am not a musician nor a performing artiste so sijui pressure ya kutoa wimbo lakini hapana (I don't know the pressure of producing a song but no)… a gospel song should put you in a worship or praise mood... Some words don't even make sense… lakini Awards watu watashida...(but people will still win awards),'' part of her Facebook post read.
The duo has been under sharp criticism from members of the public with many saying the track was only danceable and a hit song but didn't qualify to be gospel.
However, when Size 8 and Willy Paul appeared on popular NTV show the Trend on Friday, they both defended the song and claimed it was gospel.
When asked by the show host, Larry Madowo, whether Tiga Wana was a gospel song, they both stood their ground that the song was passing the message of God.
“Gospel is the message of God. So, of course, Tiga Wana is gospel because of the message it carries… We are telling the devil to stop whatever you're doing because the Bible says cast down every thought that rises itself above the knowledge of Christ and we are glorifying Jesus,” Size 8 explained to Madowo.
Willy Paul further added that each musician had a different way of praising God noting that for him nothing was wrong with the song.
