DPP to Charge Seven Children With Murder in Murang’a

The Director of Public Prosecutions is set to charge seven children with murder in connection with the death of a KCPE candidate in Murang’a County.

Murang’a Deputy Prosecutor Sebastian Mutinda explained that the police had completed investigations into Juliano Kanyonyo’s death and are now set to prosecute suspects.

We shall proceed to charge them with murder as the police have completed their investigations,” stated Mutinda.

The minors, who are in secondary school, reportedly visited the deceased a day before he was found dead.

Appearing before Murang’a resident magistrate Violet Ochanda, Mutinda explained that the children would be charged with the murder jointly.

They were arrested two weeks ago and were being detained at Kandara Police cells while awaiting to be arraigned in court.

Kanyonyo was reportedly found dead a day before receiving his KCPE results, shortly after his mother left for the market to buy chicken

He had performed well and was even ranked among the top students from his Gatitu Primary School in the recently concluded KCPE exams. He scored 376 marks.

Further rulings on the case were set for December 20, 2018.

The underage boys were taken to Murang’a Police Station.
