How DP Ruto Took Senator Millicent Omanga From Being a Bedsheets Seller

Deputy President William Ruto prides himself as a hustler owing to his humble background and having manoeuvred his way from rags to riches.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has equally testified how the DP changed her fortunes.

In her account, the youthful legislator indicated that she was doing a bedsheets retail business when Ruto picked her and consequently changed her life forever.

Addressing the end year party for Pitchface, a company owned by South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, Omanga recounted the events leading to her surprise job.

"When my appointment came, I had bought 30 bed sheets which I was going to sell.

"I was at Kings Collections shop trying to bargain with the Indian seller so that I could make some profit," she narrated.

Then came a call by former Energy Cabinet Secretary Davies Chirchir, a close ally of DP Ruto.

To her surprise, Chirchir told her "We have an AGM tomorrow for KenGen and you have been chosen to be one of the directors".

This marked the dawn of a new chapter in her life that would end in a political career.

Having worked with Ruto's defunct party United Republican Party (URP), which later saw her nominated to the senate seat after losing out in Jubilee party primaries.

"I dare say the person who is behind my success today is none other than William Samoei Ruto," a seemingly grateful Omanga declared.
