President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed the military to airlift Chief Justice David Maraga and his wife to Nairobi for specialised treatment after they were involved in an accident.
The two had been involved in a grisly road accident while on their way to church on Saturday morning.
They had been admitted at War Memorial Hospital, Nakuru, after the early morning accident.
Maraga sustained head injuries while his wife was in shock but stable.
According to the Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Mongo Chimwaga, the president ordered the military to transfer the couple to Nairobi for comprehensive medical attention.
The accident was grisly that the car's bonnet and bumper were left badly damaged and the airbags deployed.
The two were reportedly in a stable condition while at the Nakuru hospital.
They were travelling inside CJ Maraga's official car.
On Friday evening, 11 people died in a grisly accident involving a tanker and a matatu along Webuye-Eldoret road in Kakamega county.
Both drivers and a pedestrian were among those who perished in the accident that occurred after the tanker's breaks failed.
