Skylines in Nairobi and other major towns in the country were lit up with fireworks displays as Kenyans ushered in the new year in celebration.
Many were gathered at different entertainment spots to dance away 2018 in hopes that the new year would be better.
Nairobians were treated to a fanfare of fireworks at the city center which is well known for these type of displays.
As soon as the clock struck midnight, some Kenyans hit the streets shouting and those in vehicles started hooting indiscriminately.
Some citizens found solace in religious gatherings as they flocked churches to share the gospel of the new year with fellow brethren.
Other Kenyans chose to watch the rest usher in 2019 through TV stations that were streaming live content from music concerts and church services.
A few who either aren't particularly interested in making merry or were exhausted from the Christmas celebrations however decided to tuck themselves to sleep.
Fortunately for them, and those that couldn’t be in multiple venues, Kenyans.co.ke has a compilation of firework displays.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday evening wished Kenyans a happy and prosperous new year.
In his New Year’s speech, communicated his master plan for 2019 and highlighted the importance of setting goals and working hard to achieve them.
