Governor Sospeter Ojaamong's Visit to DP William Ruto's Home Angers Officials

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong' is in trouble with local ODM Party leaders over a visit to Deputy President Willam Ruto’s home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu on Tuesday.

The Busia Party Chairman Patrick Obongoya expressed his displeasure claiming that it was inconsequential and did not guarantee the region’s support for the DP’s presidential bid.

According to Obongoya, the county and by extension Western, was solidly behind Orange party leader Raila Odinga.

As the county party officials, we categorically denounce the misguided visit by Ojaamong and his allies to the DP's home, this is a clique of selfish MPs and MCAs whose political future hangs in the balance," he stated.

He added that those who attended the meeting had committed political suicide by betraying the people they represent and the party that sponsored them to Parliament and county assembly.

During the visit, Ojaamong told Ruto to brace for a tough journey ahead because he would be insulted and would have to navigate several hurdles.

“Even for the war you have started, do not think people will have mercy on you, they will hurl stones and bad words on you but use those bad words to establish yourself politically,” he stated.

On Thursday, Ruto hosted Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso among a delegation of other leaders from Bomet and Vihiga at his home.

The DP noted that he will throw his weight behind any Jubilee candidate who will beat him on ideas, agenda and programmes.

"We will all compete for different positions in the nominations. Those of us who will be defeated should concede and support the winners," he stated.
