President Uhuru Kenyatta has fuelled Cabinet reshuffle speculations after it emerged that he had summoned all Cabinet Secretaries to Mombasa where he is also expected to meet Raila Odinga.
Raila jetted back to Mombasa from South Africa on Thursday evening in readiness for Friday's meeting.
Citizens are eager for a possible announcement from the Head of State on the reorganisation of government.
According to sources at The Star, the announcement by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet about changes in police regional bosses, which had been scheduled for Friday were moved to Thursday in favour of Uhuru’s announcement.
In December, the CSs were granted leave for the holiday through a circular issued by Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.
In their absence, they were required to designate a duty officer who would be in the office throughout the period.
Kinyua also asked the CSs and the PSs to forward the name, designation, office phone and mobile number of the duty officer to his office.
Since the March 9, 2018, handshake there has been speculations that Uhuru would make changes to accommodate more opposition figures in his government.
The last Cabinet mini-reshuffle happened on July 13 last year and was announced by State House spokesperson Kanze Dena.
Before that on January 26, Uhuru dropped several Cabinet Secretaries and sent them to Kenyan foreign missions.
Uhuru also created a new position of Chief Administrative Secretary which was used to award politicians who supported his re-election but lost in their personal conquests.
