Driver Arrested for Painting Car Similar to Kenya Forest Service Vehicles

A man has been arrested in Lamu county for painting his car to look exactly like vehicles belonging to the Kenya Forest Service.

Adam Kore Bukale was apprehended by rangers from the Rapid Forest Inspection and Protection Unit while on a patrol in Witu location.

The vehicle in question is Toyota Hilux double cabin with the registration number KAN 422U.

The driver was booked at Witu Police Station and the vehicle is believed to belong to one Swaleh Awadhi

According to communication from the agency, the motive for the illegal branding could not be established.

The matter has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

In 2018, the Government imposed a three-month logging ban in the country following a widespread outcry over the wanton and consistent loss of forest cover to logging.

Deputy President William Ruto ordered the immediate suspension of timber harvesting in all public and community forests for three months, directing the Ministry of Environment to ensure the ban is enforced.

The Environment CS Keriako Tobiko has tightened screws at KFS in a bid to ensure that the country increases its forest cover.

The CS went ahead to invite the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to investigate the loss of Kshs 2 Billion in the docket.
