Nzoia Sugar Company Denies Claims of Involvement in Micheal Kulundu's Kidnapping

Nzoia Sugar company denied allegations that it staged their MD Micheal Kulundu's kidnapping and subsequent torture.

Speaking for the company, board chairman Joash Wamang’oli rubbished the claims doing rounds in different media channels as propaganda.

He pointed out that it was impossible and indeed unthinkable that they would kidnap its own employee to intimidate him as alleged.

Wamang’oli also condemned Kulundu’s kidnapping and asked the police to be quick in apprehending the culprits.

“On behalf of the management and workers of Nzoia Sugar Company, I wish to highly condemn this act on our MD and also dismiss reports doing rounds in some section of the media that the company might have been involved in the abduction and torture of Mr Kulundu. All those spreading these lies are out of their minds,” Wamang’oli told journalists.

He also urged anyone with information on the abduction to report to the police to ensure justice was upheld.

The chairman’s statement comes after Nzoia Sugar workers' representative Macdonald Wamacho alleged that Kulundu was kidnapped after internal wrangles in the management following the appointment of one managing director.

Wamacho termed Kulundu’s kidnap as an attempt to assassinate him.

The company MD was ambushed on the evening of December 3, 2018, at Salmod Restaurant along Kanyuyi-Sikata Road.

His kidnappers, after inflicting serious wounds on him, dumped him in a trench near Gulf Petrol Station from where he was taken to Bungoma West Private Hospital.
