Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua was attacked by goons who violently broke up his press conference in Mwingi town.
The Senator tried to hold his media briefing at AIC Church Mwingi on Sunday when the group attacked him.
They also shouted and jeered at the Parliamentarian to make him inaudible to the journalists present.
The leader’s security aide tried to restrain the youth and at one point he was seen trying to draw his gun.
They threatened to pounce on him, prompting the intervention of two Administration Police officers who escorted him to his car.
He has accused Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu of inciting the rowdy youth to disrupt his presser.
The lawmaker had earlier told the congregation, which also included Ngilu, that he wanted to address issues of corruption in the county government.
He reiterated that violence by hired youth would not stop him from overseeing the use of funds and speaking up against corruption and arbitrary theft of funds.
Kitui County Government has been experiencing wrangles due to a conflict between leaders.
The Governor is also at loggerheads with Members of the County Assembly. On the same day, Ngilu warned MCAs that she would not give in to their demands to change her manifesto and agenda for the county.
