Police Launch Hunt for MP Samuel Atandi Over Assault on Female Employee in Siaya

Police officers, on Friday, launched a hunt for Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi after he allegedly assaulted a female government employee.

According to a police report, the MP stormed her office demanding for personal contacts of Siaya director of Education in charge of the Teachers Service Commission.

Modester Anyuor, a human resource officer, however, failed to provide them citing procedural conditions which prompted Atandi to reportedly attack her.

Siaya County Commissioner Michael Ole Tialal stated that the police are, therefore, looking for the legislator to record a statement over the incident.

It's unfortunate if a leader can storm a national government office and attack a civil servant,” expressed Tialal.

The region’s Education Coordinator Richard Chepkawai further criticised the assault urging the law enforcers to hasten the process in order to deliver justice to the victim.

It is unfortunate that somebody can just storm a government office and attack employees. Police should expedite investigations and grant the employee justice,” stated Chepkawai.

This was, however, not the first time the MP was linked to an assault on a female worker.

In December 2018, goons reportedly associated with the legislator attacked nominated MCA Winnie Otienos car damaging her windscreen.

There were four of us in the car when youth emerged from a nearby thicket and stoned our vehicle. We identified some of them associated with MP Atandi,” disclosed Otieno.

The lawmaker had also reportedly attacked ODM youth official Edward Ogola.
