President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that he was partnering with US President Donald Trump in an Initiative dubbed Prosper Africa.
According to Uhuru, the initiative will help deepen ties between Kenya and the US in trade and commerce.
He also revealed that the partnership with Trump would ensure that security ties between the two countries are enhanced.
“The initiative will deepen the trade, commerce and security ties between Kenya and the US,” Uhuru wrote on his twitter page.
The president also revealed that the project would involve Trump, his government and the US private sector.
“I, therefore, look forward to working with President Donald Trump, the US government and US private sector for the mutual benefit of our two countries,” he added.
President Uhuru and Trump’s relationship has grown recently after Uhuru’s visit to the US president in White House on August 28, 2018.
In the meeting, the two discussed matters regional security, tourism and investment between the two countries.
On December 6, 2018, Assistant Secretary for US Department of State's Bureau of African Affairs Tibor Peter Nagy held a meeting with President Uhuru in Statehouse.
They further discussed partnerships between Kenya and the US, with Nagy lauding President Uhuru's leadership.
