Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will officially launch the Democracy for the Citizens Party on June 3, 2025.

The date of the official launch was disclosed in a booking letter in which the former DP reserved the renowned Kasarani Stadium Gymnasium for the event, an occasion poised to redefine the country’s political landscape.

The booking request, submitted on May 20, reflected the detailed planning that had gone into the preparations to ensure a successful event.

"I am writing to formally request to book the Kasarani Stadium Gymnasium for our official party launch event, scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM," the letter read in part.

'"The event is expected to host approximately 5,000 attendees, including party members, supporters, invited guests, and press members," it continued.

According to the party, the facility, which cost them a hefty Ksh3.7 million, is set to be used for speeches, performances, and interactive sessions aimed at unveiling the party's vision, manifesto, and leadership to the Kenyan public.

"We kindly request information on the availability of the venue on the stated date, the booking procedure, and the associated costs and requirements," the letter continued.

In response to the booking letter, the facility's management confirmed the availability of the stadium, detailing the date and the amount the party needed to pay.

Hiring the indoor arena will cost the party Ksh1.4 million, in addition to other charges such as exclusive branding, catering levy, presidential and VIP suite, cleaning charges, exhibition area, live coverage, and floodlight usage, all totalling Ksh3.7 million.

This marks the official launch of the party, following its initial unveiling at the party’s headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, on May 15. During that first event, the party formally introduced its identity and leadership to the public.

The event was marked by both excitement and chaos, as goons disrupted the proceedings, forcing security personnel to intervene.

During the launch, Gachagua officially unveiled the party, emphasising its commitment to listening to the concerns of ordinary Kenyans.

The party adopted the slogan “Skiza Wakenya” (Listen to Kenyans) and a logo featuring an ear cupped by fingers, symbolising attentiveness to the people’s voices.
