Four Dead, 16 Injured in Naromoru Road Accident

Four people died after a road accident occurred at the Narumoru area in Nyeri County on Thursday 11pm.

The accident involved a 45-seater bus, belonging to Northern E-coach Sacco, which was traveling from Nariobi to Isiolo and a five-seater G4S van traveling from Meru to Nairobi.

Nyeri County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia confirmed the incident and announced that 16 people were injured.

According to Citizen TV, all occupants of the van succumbed to their injuries while the driver of the bus was reported to be seriously hurt.

Among those dead are two police officers who were escorting the G4S van, the driver and a civilian.

Police believe that the accident may have been a head-on collision and rescuers had to cut into the truck in order to reach those that had been trapped inside.

Victims are receiving treatment from various hospitals including Nyeri referral hospital and Nanyuki hospital which is not far from the scene of the crime.

Police are expected to give more details regarding the accident as they are still combining the data.

The two vehicles involved in the accident have been taken to the Narumoru Police Station

This accident comes a day after six people died in a road accident along the Lanet-Olkalou road in an accident involving a 14-seater matatu, a trailer, and a lorry.
