CS Joe Mucheru Appoints David Makali to Head New Govt Taskforce

ICT Ministry Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has appointed former Citizen TV journalist David Makali to head a new taskforce at the ministry.

According to a Gazette notice number 354, Makali will be the chairperson of a taskforce for improvement of Government Information and Public Communications functions.

It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and Technology has appointed a Taskforce for improvement of Government Information and Public Communications functions to align them with emerging public sector dynamics and expectations,” read part of the notice.

Makali will be joined with 14 other members and four other joint secretaries.

According to the notice, the taskforce will be tasked with reviewing existing policies and laws on public communications and advice on appropriateness and consistency.

They will also review inadequacies in the staffing of public communications offices and county offices as well as recommendations for the strengthening of the operational base for public communication functions.

Among those appointed are Royal Media Services’ Robin Njogu, and Gwaro Ogaro who will be the director of Information and Alfred Nganga among others.

Makali, who has worked with nearly all media houses in Kenya, was a journalist at Citizen TV presenting in the Breakfast show as well as alongside Uduak Amimo on Cheche.

He also worked as the head of content at the Star newspaper after opting not to renew his one year contract.

Makali also served as the Secretary-General to  Ababu Namwaba-led Labour Party of Kenya (LPK).
