In an earlier visit to GSU offices in Ruaraka headquarters, Matiang'i lauded the entire police service and other first responders for acting swiftly to save lives during the 14 Riverside Drive Complex attack.

He led a minute of silence in honour of the constable who was killed in the attack.

Matiang'i conveyed the congratulatory message from President Uhuru Kenyatta to the GSU unit for their service during the attack.

"The president sent me to come and tell you how proud he is of the unit. You have made us proud as a country, as a government and have sent a message to the world that in Kenya we have men and women who are committed to service

and when duty calls we shall deliver," he stated.

During a briefing with foreign envoys, Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma stated that the attack was not only a Kenya affair as it targeted the world.

“While this attack on the Dusit Complex was on the Kenyan territory, it was targeted at the world. The complex hosts a range international establishments and interests,” she stated.
