Citizen TV Face Backlash Before Airing Kidero Interview

Citizen TV announced that that former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was scheduled for an interview on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

Journalist Sam Gituku will interview the former county head, who has been out of the limelight, on his life after City Hall for their morning show Day Break.

The announcement, however, was met with hostility from a section of Kenyans online.

"Thank you for telling us early enough so that we can remember to stay away from Citizen TV that day that time," one user stated.

"Why would we want to listen to a thief? Really?" another quipped.

Some were of the opinion that the interview was an attempt to sanitizing the politician's track record.

"Time for royal media to sanitize Kidero, after the show Kidero the thief will be a saint," one user wrote.

Since Kidero was trounced in the gubernatorial election by current governor Mike Sonko, the former has been charged for graft on two separate occasions.

In August, Kidero was arrested with seven others by EACC sleuths on charged with mismanagement and embezzlement of public funds.

Later in September, he was picked up by the officials at his Muthaiga home on corruption allegations.

He was released on both incidents as the case is still ongoing in court.
