Police have arrested the wife of Dusit suicide bomber Mahir Khalid Riziki.
The woman, who has been identified as Suhaila Mwalim Bakari, was said to be on the run.
She was nabbed in Bakarani, Mombasa by officers from the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU).
The father of the 25-year-old attacker was also arrested in a similar swoop in Majengo.
The Star reports that the two were flown to Nairobi for questioning.
CCTV cameras captured Riziki blowing himself up at 3:05pm outside a restaurant within the complex.
Shortly after, people are seen scampering for safety past the explosion site.
Abdullahi Ogello, a hotel worker who was seen walking past Khalid before the latter blew himself up, said the terrorist was donning a black suit and a white shirt.
Recounting the near-death ordeal, Ogello said he heard the terrorist speaking on phone and inquiring where the person on the other end of the line was.
Moments later, he heard a loud bang which he mistook for a gas explosion before realizing that they were under attack when he heard gunshots.
“I saw a man who was seriously injured in the restaurant lying on the table. The body parts of the terrorist was strewn all over the place. There was a hand at the door as I and the others ran for our lives,” he narrated.
Police reports indicate that Riziki had sneaked back into the country on January 13 from Somalia, where he had been undergoing training since 2018.
He then linked up with Ali Salim Gichunge and planned the Riverside attack that left 21 people dead.
