Suspected Al Shabaab Gunmen Attack Chinese Facility in Kenya

Kenyan security forces were engaged in a shootout with eight suspected Al Shabaab members at a Chinese facility in Garissa County.

The gunmen reportedly opened fire at the construction site in Shimbirey area but were successfully fought off.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet did not report any fatalities although the guard who was manning the gate was injured along with his wife.

This comes in the backdrop of a heightened security operation in the country to flush out members of the terrorist group.

On Saturday, authorities arrested two gunmen after they were tricked into a police station by a taxi driver in Garissa County.

Upon searching, police recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition.

They were later found to have aided in the Riverside attack that left 21 people dead.

Detectives have also launched a manhunt for six others who played various roles in the attack.

The six, whose names are: Didu Mohamed Fugicha, Hussein Adan Hussein, Gadaffi Munene, Abdi Ali Kanchora, Boru Abdi Bidu, and Ramadhan Wario Bonaya, have all gone into hiding.

Citizen TV reports that investigators are pursuing them in Isiolo County where they planned their ambush.
