2 Other Nairobi Buildings Terrorists Planned to Attack

Two other buildings in Nairobi had been targeted by terrorists according to a terror alert issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

In the memo dated October 25, the DCI mentioned Times Towers and Treasury Building as high-risk targets.

Six Al Shabaab operatives led by Ahmed Harith Mahamoud are planning to attack Times Towers and Treasury buildings within the Central Business District (CBD).

The communication described the lead perpetrator as an associate of Ahmed Iman Ali alias Engineer from Majengo, Nairobi.

The subject was said to have been spying on the named targets for close to a month.

he was reported to be working with five others, among them one lady and four men. Their last known place of residence was Umoja and Kariobangi areas.

Other details have emerged that a twin terror attack had been scheduled to take place in Mombasa the same day as the DusitD2 incident

“We received information that the terrorists had planned twin attack in two major cities Nairobi and possibly Mombasa. This prompted an increase in levels of preparedness to counter any possible attack,” a source told People Daily.

However, the perpetrators grew cold feet after security agents intercepted communication between the two sets of terrorists.

The group tasked with executing the Mombasa attack called off the plan after realising that security had been beefed up, noticeably along the Mombasa-Malindi highway.
