Inside Muhoho Kenyatta's Quiet Life

Muhoho Kenyatta, the younger brother of President Uhuru Kenyatta has gone at great lengths to avoid the public limelight.



It is alleged that he lost his time for golfing, shooting and attending a number of social events in order to take care of his family enterprises.

According to reports, Muhoho always wanted to be a farmer from childhood and would say no to anyone that wouldn’t listen.

He helped found Brookside Dairies Ltd in 1993, and which has become the market leader in the milk processing and products in Kenya and the region.

Those who know him have revealed that the father of three, a son and two daughters, is a gentle person who works long hours, often leaving the office after 10pm.

A former employee of his revealed that he often mingled well with his staff and sometimes invited them to lunch.

 

He is known to be a strict timekeeper and methodical and does not entertain time wasting during working hours, even on his children.

 

Speaking to The Nation, the former employee also revealed that Muhoho insisted on his children working in the farm to learn how to milk cows and boil the produce for themselves. He would also speak in Kikuyu to all of them.

 

Muhoho holds a vice chair position in the board of the family’s crown jewel, the Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA), the biggest private bank in Kenya.

 

Other prominent brands in Kenya in which he is the key overseer on the business side include The Heritage group whose flagships include the Mara and Samburu intrepid, the Voyager Beach Resort and The Great Rift valley Lodges among others.
