Kenyans were baffled on Friday after Satan, the personification of evil in many cultures and religious traditions, trended on social media alongside popular Gospel musicians.
Gospel stars DK Kwenye Beat, Hopekid and Size 8 received backlash from Kenyans after a story broke out about a girl who allegedly engaged sexually with the two musicians.
A 20-year-old girl from Nakuru had accused DK Kwenye Beat and Hopekid of taking advantage of her several times a few years ago, after which she got infected with a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).
Reacting to the allegations, both musicians came out to apologize but Kenyans were having none of it.
Kenyans accused the two gospel musicians of hiding behind the Church hoping that their ugly past would be forgiven once they rebuked the devil and gave an amazing testimony to glorify God.
Some wondered how people who were supposed to be preaching the gospel of Christ and the Church could be implicated in such accusations in the first place.
However, the discussions were escalated after Size 8, famed for her "Mateke' song, preached forgiveness to her fans, urging them to excuse the duo because they sinned at a time they hadn’t genuinely known God.
“To DK and Hopekid and the young lady, the devil is the greatest enemy here trying to destroy these three with this rubbish. Ashindwe! May the Lord rebuke the devil!” part of her tweet read.
Many female fans asked her to direct her energy towards sympathizing with the sexual exploitation victim, and not the perpetrators.
On the other hand, another gospel star, Willy Paul, was caught in the crossfire despite not being mentioned in the accusations. According to the tweets, it appeared as though his alleged controversial past was also catching up with him.
