Governor Anne Waiguru's Health Minister Resigns Citing Frustrations

A minister, who resigned from Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru's Cabinet, has finally spoken up about how she was forced to exit.

The county's Health Executive Agnes Gachoki, who tendered her resignation on Thursday, revealed that she had made the move due to frustrations from the governor.

She further divulged that she had been unhappy with how Waiguru was supervising her work.

“I can’t work under the current administration because it has been frustrating me when carrying out my official duties,” she stated.

She also accused the governor of ignoring her contributions to the health docket.

“My advice to the governor on how to improve the health sector was ignored and I always felt very disturbed," she continued.

This came as a shock since, in 2018, during the launch of a programme aimed at making linen for patients at Kerugoya, the former Devolution Cabinet Secretary described Gachoki as one of her most active officers.

Gachoki is a doctor who possesses 10 years of experience in Medicine.

Waiguru joins Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko after he was accused of frustrating his cabinet members to a point they opt to step aside.

In early January, Sonko was locked in a war of words with his former Education Cabinet Minister Janet Ouko who accused him of frustrating county operations.
