Kenyans React to Uhuru’s Latest Nickname for DP Ruto

President Uhuru Kenyatta excited a section of social media users on Saturday after referring to DP William Ruto by a new title.

Uhuru was traveling back to Nairobi by road after attending the 20th Heads of State Summit of the East African Community (EAC) held in Arusha, Tanzania.

Ruto received the president at the Namanga border and the two made several stopovers in Kajiado County to inspect projects and address area residents.

The two leaders urged locals to shun divisive politics and focus their energies on development.

However, what will remain etched in the minds of many Kenyans is President Kenyatta’s colorful description of his second-in-command during one of the stopovers.

Before addressing the crowd, Uhuru decided to introduce the people who had accompanied him.

He acknowledged the presence of DP Ruto whom he referred to as “twina njamba yakwa” which loosely translates to “courageous young man.”

The president’s description electrified the DP’s supporters and allayed fears of a fallout between the two as some media outlets had claimed.

It had been reported that President Kenyatta had abandoned the arrangement that would see him back Ruto’s candidature in 2022.

The recent elevation of Interior CS Fred Matiang’i to a Super CS post added salt to the wound as it was widely seen as a move meant to usurp Ruto’s powers.

However, after the recent developments, it seems all is well.
