Moses Kuria Announces 2022 Presidential Bid

Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, on Monday announced that he will vie for presidency in 2022 with his deputy as ODM leader Raila Odinga, DP William Ruto or Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.

Speaking during an interview on Hot 96 with Jeff Koinange and Professor Hamo, Kuria declared he wouldn't vie for governorship but would go for the top seat in 2022.

“I will vie for the presidency in 2022. I will be on the ballot,” Kuria stated.

“I can never go back to village jobs, I’m vying for presidency in 2022,” he added.

The MP maintained he would win if he runs against Deputy President William Ruto adding that if it happens, he would assign him a post in his government.

This declaration comes days after Kuria hinted at moving to the Democratic Party via his social media. He had posted a flag of the Democratic Party (DP) claiming the party would be the choice of Mt Kenya leaders.

Previously, the Democratic Party Chairperson Esau Kioni told journalists that Kuria is welcome to the party. However, according to the law, he will lose his seat in parliament if he leaves Jubilee formally.

Kioni also stated Kuria would have to compete with other politicians in the party who are interested in running for presidency come 2022.

The MP further advised President Uhuru Kenyatta asking him to be less merciful to government officials underperforming in their duties.

“He needs to crack the whip. He needs a room in State House where he beats up people not delivering,” he cited
