16 Killed in 3 Months by Suspected Outlawed Gang

16 gruesome deaths in the last three months in Kwhisero, Kakamega county, have left residents in terror as the outlawed criminal gang, 42 brothers, is suspected to be behind it.

Khwisero Deputy County Commissioner, Ngeleyo Lotulia, confirmed that two male cadavers were discovered by the roadside, on Wednesday morning.

The two, Paul Odera and Meleti Owade, were murdered in a manner that fit the banned gang's method of operation.

“They died a painful death as a result of excessive bleeding from injuries that were afflicted on them,” explained George Wesonga, a local resident.

Their bodies were heavily mutilated with reports indicating that they were most likely murdered at a different location, then had their corpses ferried to where they were discovered.

The local residents are convinced that the murders were committed by members of the outlawed gang, that has been terrorizing residents of Butere, Khwisero and Mumias town.

Wesonga went on to give the gory details of the state of the two bodies, further adding that the entire neighbourhood was now on high alert.

“We are living in fear as some of us have been warned of dire consequences by suspected members of the outlawed gang. We will continue pressuring police to arrest those involved in a bid to face prosecution,” he divulged to The Standard.

The locals went on to accuse the police of colluding with the criminal entity, revealing that whenever an individual provided information, they ended up as victims of the gang on the very same day.

Lotulia affirmed that two suspects (Peter Oketch and Charles Osore) had been arrested in connection with the gruesome murders.

However, the Deputy County Commissioner categorically denied allegations of the resurgence of the 42 brothers gang and chalked the incident to a rise in crime within the area.

Back in 2015, a 16-year-old boy, Mathews Lwango Omboko, who was believed to be the leader of the dreaded gang was arrested in Kisumu.
