DP Ruto in London to Give Lecture at Chatham House

Deputy President William Ruto arrived in London, the United Kingdom, on Thursday, for an eagerly awaited lecture set for Friday.

On his Twitter account, the DP informed he was there "to advance bilateral trade and investment, education, tourism; cement existing cooperation frameworks and explore new opportunities ahead of Brexit."

The DP will deliver a lecture at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, which is also popularly referred to as Chatham House.

DP’s spokesman David Mugonyi indicated that he will also give another lecture at the University of Warwick on Saturday.

Ruto is expected to focus his speech on matters of devolution, the challenges faced in trying to integrate the country and the East African region.

Details had earlier emerged of a planned meeting with Kenyans during the visit in an event dubbed as a "cocktail."

However, on Wednesday evening, information making rounds on social media, allegedly from the Kenya High Commission, indicated that the cocktail had been canceled.

Efforts to reach the Commission on the matter proved futile. A message seeking confirmation from Ruto's team also went answered.

Kenyans.co.ke, however, managed to obtain a video showing the DP's arrival as he was met by Kenyan officials in London.
