Harambee Stars Seeks Ksh50 Million Payment From DP Ruto

Harambee Stars is distressed as DP William Ruto has failed to remit Ksh50 million into their account as promised yet they qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The DP pledged Ksh50 million to the team, back in 2018, when Harambee Stars was still on the race to qualify for the tournament.

This followed the highly attended game at Kasarani Stadium where Kenya beat Ethiopia 3-0.

Harambee Stars won the qualifier matches against Ghana and Ethiopia and were also aided by the disqualification of Sierra Leone.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Boss Nick Mwendwa stated that they have been following up by making phone calls to the DP’s office which have all been in vain.

"We have been making calls to follow up on this payment but no payment has been made yet. We are still waiting,” noted Mwendwa

Sports PS Kirimi Kaberia divulged that the issue was being followed up adding that the AFCON budgeting was still underway.

“We are following up on the matter, no payment has been made yet but the whole budgeting of the AFCON league is being worked on,” he explained.

Messages seeking comment on the issue from the DP 's team went unanswered.

The month-long AFCON tournament is set to kick off in Egypt on June 21, 2019.

Harambee Stars is expected to camp in France for three weeks to prepare for the matches.
