4 Perish in Grisly Accident in Bungoma

At least four people have reportedly perished in a grisly accident on Saturday evening in Bungoma County.

The accident involving a head-on collision between a PSV matatu and a lorry occurred along Chwele road at Marakaru Trading Center.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kimilili MP Didmus Wekesa Barasa, who visited the scene, confirmed that several people lost their lives in the unfortunate accident.

"Among those who have perished is a close friend of mine who is also a former MCA for Wandanyi," the MP stated.

Initial reports indicate that four people perished on the spot with several others sustaining injuries.

Unconfirmed reports allege that among those who perished in the accident are high school students who were out for their mid-term break.

There were rumours of a different accident allegedly involving 18 students from Kolanya Girls High School in Bungoma.

However, the Kimilili MP confirmed that the only accident that had occurred in Bungoma is the one at Marakaru Trading Center.

In a communication seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the school equally refuted the claims advising the parents to treat the information as false.

"Be advised that information of that magnitude can only be verified by the school," Kolanya Girls' principal urged the parents and guardians.
