Mt Elgon MP Fred Kapondi Fights Rival at Funeral

There was drama at a funeral ceremony at Nasala village, Bungoma County, when supporters of Mt Elgon MP Fred Chesebe Kapondi and those of his rival Evans Kiprotich clashed.

A video that has gone viral online shows Kapondi, who was dressed in a checked blazer, being restrained from joining the skirmish.

Moments later, he broke free and rained blows on the man who has now been identified as Masuti Chemasuet.

According to Citizen, Chemasuet, who is a close ally of Kiprotich, was taking photos while the MP was addressing mourners.

This did not go down well with Kapondi who cut short his speech and took on Chemasuet.

He wanted him to delete the photos. When he refused, a violent confrontation ensued.

The coffin bearing the body of businessman Peter Chepkech Zablon had to be taken away as the youth clashed.

Kiprotich vowed to seek legal redress against Kapondi over the brush.

The legislator, on the other hand, stated that it was time to serve the electorate while urging his rivals to wait for the 2022 General Elections.
