An Amref nurse, Margaret Kilelu, who had been reported missing, was found unconscious in Mombasa County.
The family stated that she was found by a good samaritan near a petrol station in Bamburi who reported the matter to Kadzandani Police Station.
Chrispin Chombo, the nurse's brother told Nation, "According to information from the hospital, she was brought on Saturday morning by police officers. This after the good samaritan reported the matter to them."
Kilelu was then admitted to the ICU of Coast Provincial General Hospital where she is receiving treatment.
Doctors are assessing her blood to find out if she was intoxicated or poisoned.
The family is also trying to establish how she travelled from her home in Nairobi to Mombasa.
Kilelu had been previously admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital for depression-related illness.
The mother of two had lost her husband Stephen Omollo in unclear circumstances in November 2018.
Mercy, her sister, told K24 that on the day she disappeared, Kilelu did not reveal where she was going but stated that she would be back shortly.
“We were at her house in Tena with my mother and a sister-in-law. My mother had travelled from Voi to see her because she had been discharged from hospital just a few days earlier,” she explained.
