Meet Kenyan Billionare Who is a Musician

Founding Director and Chief Executive Officer of Resolution Health East Africa Limited, Peter Nduati, is as low profile a billionaire as they come.

The man, who was worth Ksh3 billion as at 2015, is also a fully fledged musician with Pine Creek Records, an established music production label under his belt.

“It goes back to my childhood. I sang in the school choir, and later I was in a band, then I was a dancer. One time when I couldn’t come home for my summer holidays during my studies in India, I enrolled in a music school for a three-month sound production course,” he revealed during a past interview with the Daily Nation.

During the tell-all interview, Nduati went on to reveal that he immersed himself in the local industry back in the year 2000.

It was during this time that he managed and produced veteran Kenyan musician, Mr Lenny, thus giving him the impetus he needed to finally start Pine Creek Records.

The CEO has produced over 38 albums including over 2000 songs under his well-funded label that has attracted artists such as Atemi, Anto Neosoul, among others.

Nduati was also responsible for signing Amani Gracious alias Amani G to the music label after spotting her on various social media platforms.

Amani is the melodious 13-year-old from Githurai who took Kenya and the world by storm with a viral video of her cover of ‘Girl on fire’ by Alicia Keys.

The record label also signed Mankind, an alternative music duo from Nairobi whose singing fuses a lot of different genres, including Jazz, Classical and Urban pop.

The duo was previously signed to Sony Music, and have been highly regarded as the next big thing set to hit the global scene.

The record label owner is also a huge fan of rugby, having played professionally for Impala Rugby Club for over a decade and going on to serve as the club's chairman.

He makes time for most of the 7’s rugby tours in support of the national team.

“I do eight to 12 rugby tours annually. The must-go-to ones are Las Vegas, London, Dubai, Singapore, Paris, Cape Town, and Scotland. In the region, I go to Tanzania and Uganda. I always try to take the family along to make the most of these tours,” Nduati revealed.

Nduati’s Resolution Health Insurance Company became the first firm to offer a cover for HIV and diabetes patients, a foray that paid off handsomely and ensured its rise to become one of Kenya’s biggest homegrown insurance companies currently.
