The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Sunday arrested a suspected Nigerian drug trafficker at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Princess Okoye, the 25-year-old lady, was arrested by DCI officers based at the international airport while preparing to board a flight to Italy.
“The drug trafficker was intercepted as she prepared to board a plane to Italy,” DCI stated.
She was found in possession of 77 pellets of a narcotic that was left unnamed by the investigations agency.
Reports from the directorate also revealed that upon arrest, Ms Okoye was placed under observation at a holding facility within the airport.
DCI added that the suspect had concealed the contraband in plastic milk bottles, hoping to fly under the radar.
They went on further to reveal that while under observation in the holding facility, Ms Okoye emitted 15 pellets of the unidentified narcotic.
She is believed to have swallowed the drugs with the aim of trafficking them prior to her arrest.
Ms Okoye’s arrest mirrors the arrest of two suspects identified as Mary Nyaguthie and Bernard Otieno Oduor, late last year at JKIA, who had also swallowed drugs en-route to an undisclosed location.
DCI disclosed that the Nigerian national remains under observation as investigations continue.
