Former Laikipia County Women Representative Cate Waruguru on Thursday surprised Kameme FM presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba live on air for her birthday.
In a clip shared through her social media page, Waruguru was seen dancing to a lively Kikuyu tune as she walked the halls at the Mediamax studios.
She feigned a knock on the studio door and jokingly said, “Is anybody in?” in Kikuyu, much to the delight of her friend.
Kirumba, who was hosting her morning radio show at the time, expressed her shock and excitement as she hugged the former lawmaker.
With her, Waruguru brought a bouquet of flowers and other gifts, including two lollipops and unseen goodies in gift bags.
The last time Kirumba hosted Waruguru in her morning show, the two had nothing but good things to say about each other live on air.
In the December 12 Njorua Ya Kothi show, the politician rained praises on the journalist, expressing her pride in the woman she was turning into.
"I'm so happy about the girl you have become and the leader you have become. I'm also happy about the Kameme FM platform that has been given to you because the people are happy," she stated.
"First of all, you don't fail to entertain us, inform us, or even educate us on what is going on in our country. And most of all, you sell us good plots and maize flour."
An honoured Kirumba also had great things to say about Waruguru reminiscing about the first time she interviewed her in 2013 when she vied for a seat as a Member of the County Assembly.
Parodying the Jamhuri celebrations taking place on that day, the two broke into hysterics, easily proving their bond with each other as they referred to each other as sisters.
Photos shared following the interview also demonstrated the deep bond between the two.
