NTSA Pursues Meru Shuttle Conductor Recorded Ejecting Woman & Child From Matatu

The National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) has gone after a tout attached to the Meru Shuttle Company after he was recorded on video ejecting a woman from matatu.

Following the viral video, the authority issued a statement indicating that the driver and the conductor of the vehicle KBU 254G had been summoned to the NTSA offices.

"Our attention is drawn to a video where two passengers (lady and a minor) were ejected from the PSV for saying no to carrying excess passengers.

"NTSA wishes to inform the public that the Sacco officials have been directed to present the crew members to the authorities office in Meru County on Monday 11th March, 2019 at 9am," the statement read.

The transport authority indicated that it would provide a further update on the disciplinary action taken against the crew after meeting with the Meru Shuttle Company officials.

"The Authority takes this opportunity to thank the lady passenger for taking that bold decision," NTSA Director-General Francis Meja added.

NTSA further encouraged all road users to speak out when their safety or that of others is threatened.

"We also applaud the passenger who recorded the incident and shared the video.

"The action will go a long way in keeping our roads safe," the NTSA boss concluded.
