Senator Kipchumba Murkomen Drums Up Calls for Raila's Arrest

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, on Saturday, took the war between AU Envoy Raila Odinga's camp and that of Deputy President William Ruto to the next level.

While accompanying the DP in West Pokot, Murkomen demanded that Raila should be arrested for treason after he swore himself in as the people's president in January 2018.

The Elgeyo-Marakwet senator further accused the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of targeting other individuals and leaving Raila to walk scot free.

"Raila Odinga alienda kujitangaza kwa Uhuru Park, akasema yeye ni Rais wa kando. Taifa la Kenya, kupitia ofisi ya DCI, wakaenda kushika Miguna Miguna na Tom Kajwang (MP Ruaraka)," stated Murkomen.

(Raila Odinga went to Uhuru Park and declared himself the people's president. Kenya, through the office of the DCI, then arrested Miguna Miguna and Tom Kajwang')

He further divulged that the AU Envoy was not qualified to lecture anyone until he is charged for treason or apologises to Kenyans.

"You are not qualified to give us a lecture a lecture until you are sentenced for treason and maybe the president will forgive you because there is a presidential pardon," he remarked.

Murkomen also wondered what would stop Raila from declaring himself president after he is defeated again.

"Tukishamshinda, na tutamshinda, tuko na uhakika gani hataenda Uhuru Park kujitangaza rais mara ya pili?" he posed.

(After we defeat him, and we will, how sure are we he won't go to Uhuru Park and declare himself President for a second time?)

Ruto also blamed Raila for having a tendency of breaking up political parties.

“I know Raila Odinga, he has the tendency of breaking parties, he broke CORD, NARC, KANU, ODM and recently he disunited NASA. He is now in Jubilee to bring it down but he should be wary because we will protect our party and ensure that Kenyatta’s projects and legacy are upheld,” stated Ruto.
