Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris on Sunday sent out a candid message to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti over a recent attack by Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
This was after the Elgeyo Marakwet MP asked for the immediate sacking of DCI Kinoti over allegations of not following the law.
Speaking during a public address by ODM Party, Passaris reminded the DCI boss that he is the only person with the legal mandate to handle investigations.
"The DCI, you should not feel obliged to justify why you are taking this one and not that one. At the end of the day, it is your job and duty as Kenyan appointed to serve Kenyans.
Passaris further reminded Kinoti that he should go for anyone and everyone that he feels has sufficient evidence to prosecute.
"If it's Baba (Raila Odinga) who has a corrupt file and you feel you have enough evidence, go for him. If its Uhuru (Kenyatta), Ruto (William) or their friends and affiliates go them," she quipped.
She also pointed out the need to support the institutions entrusted with fighting corruption terming graft as the biggest war for the country followed by tribalism.
"Let us support the DCI. As an MP, I know the biggest challenge facing the DCI and the DPP is resources and manpower.
"As the ODM Party, we are supporting the DCI and the government in the war against corruption," the Woman Representative declared.
Murkomen had accused DCI Kinoti of being partisan and for parading corruption cases to the media before he could secure evidence to warrant prosecution and conviction of suspects.
