DCI Drags Mzee Moi Into Ksh160M Arror and Kamwerer Dam Saga

Former President Daniel Moi is the latest mention in the ongoing dam scandal where Ksh160 million was reportedly splashed on 47 cars.

In the revelations by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), 28 of the vehicles were controversially transferred to two warehouses before they were registered.

According to the findings, only 17 of the vehicles were registered under the now insolvent company tasked with constructing the dam, CMC Di Ravena.

18 of the remaining vehicles were found at a warehouse along Mombasa Road while 10 others had been holed up in a storage facility at JKIA linked to Moi.

The detectives have, so far, impounded 37 of the vehicles which were taken to DCI headquarters in Nairobi.

122 firms are currently under probe after they reportedly received payment to supply various goods and services for the dams' constructions.

During a grilling session of the firms' directors in February, they revealed that they were asked to deliver materials unrelated to the dam construction.

DCI boss George Kinoti, at the time, stated that the companies' representatives were unable to explain how the material helped in the construction of the dam.

“One of the companies told us they delivered towels worth Ksh20 million, while another delivered tiles and towels,” stated the DCI boss.

Some of the companies asked to aid in the investigations are a tile and carpet company, a supplier of school uniforms, a tours and travel firm and one that deals in mattresses, bedding, headboards and luxury towels.
