Why Ruto Failed to Show up for Uhuru's Huduma Namba Launch

Deputy President William Ruto who was Scheduled to preside over the launch of Huduma Namba in Kakamega County on Tuesday failed to show up.

Sports CS Amina Mohamed who was supposed to receive the DP in Kakamega had to take charge of the meeting and become the chief guest.

Kenyans and the media had begun speculating as to why Ruto had allegedly snubbed the President's assignment with other claiming it was a public display of rebellion.

But speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on phone, an insider in the DP's communication team cleared the air by informing our news desk that Ruto had been tied up in a meeting with the Cuban Vice president.

“DP William Ruto with the vice president of the council of state and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, Mrs. Ines Maria Chapman Waugh will address the press at the DPs Karen office after bilateral talks,” Ruto's aide indicated.

While speaking in Kakamega, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa also confirmed that the DP was held up and had sent them (Amina and himself) to represent him.

In a bid to sensitize Kenyans on the importance of the Huduma Namba, President Uhuru Kenyatta who was in Machakos had sent leaders to various parts of the country.

For instance, ODM Party leader Raila Odinga had been sent out to Mombasa to launch the exercise.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was in Murang'a accompanied by Johnstone Muthama, Moses Wetangula, and Wavinya Ndeti.

ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi on his part officiated the Huduma Namba registration exercise Kajiado County.
