Uproar After Bus Amputates Woman's Leg and Flees

A Kenya Mpya Bus driver run over a woman and amputated her leg on Wednesday morning in Kahawa Sukari, Kiambu County.

It is alleged that the driver of the bus registered under KCN 587S was trying to escape traffic police officers when the lady was run over.

Photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke show people trying to help the woman, who was bleeding profusely to get on a stretcher.

It is alleged that she was later taken to hospital in an ambulance from the nearby Kenyatta University.

Netizens on Twitter caused an uproar while asking the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe the matter.

"Jesus. A Kenya Mpya bus ran over a woman at the stage trying to escape traffic cops. Her leg is shredded. I hope the passengers inside can force that driver to stop. You’ve just destroyed a woman’s life," stated Koome Gitobu.

"The driver of this Kenya Mpya bus should be arrested even if he runs and digs a tunnel to hide in. The owners of these #UntouchableKillerBuses should give this mother a life long compensation @DCI," argued Vince.

"Dear @ntsa_kenya , we've had enough of this Kenya Mpya Sacco, from conductors beating passengers to robbery in the vehicles, we're aware you know but fear the owner," another tweep weighed in.

Netizens expressed their disappointment in the commuter buses that operate along the Thika-Nairobi Highway.
